Everything Happens For a Reason
Recently, while in Vancouver, I was having lunch with Network Marketing multi-millionaires and superstars Tom "Big Al" Schreiter and Robert Butwin. We started talking about rejection, disappointment, and what seems like overall defeat. Tom shared an interesting story that we all can learn from.
A long time ago a King was out hunting with his trusted servant. All of a sudden, a deer came in direct path of the two men. The King raised his riffle, pulled the trigger, and shot at the deer. The King did not hit the deer but happened to blow off the tip of his finger. Furious and having to point the blame at someone, the King had the servant thrown in jail for 18 months.
Twelve months later, while the King was on another hunting trip, a group of tribesmen captured the King and threw him into a pot to be cooked. These tribesmen were cannibals and viewed the King as a delicacy. However, the tribesmen had a rule that they only ate people who did not have any defects. When they discovered that the King had the tip of his finger missing, they did not want to eat him and they released him.
Later on, when the King was reflecting on what had happened, he said, "I'm glad I blew off a piece of my finger a year ago." The trusted servant heard of the story and said, "I'm glad the King put me in jail a year ago or else I would have been with him when he got caught and they would have eaten me instead."
The message is clear. Everything happens for a reason, and the reason could be your best blessing in disguise. Just think of what blessings await you from the things you now view as "failures."
