Your Product is Not Your Product

Jerry DRhino Clark

Earlier we discussed the fact that your problem is not your problem. The basic premise was that your problem is never external (your spouse, company, no time, no money, etc.); rather, it's always internal (your thinking patterns, beliefs, self-images, philosophies, etc.).

Now another important point is that your product is not your product. In other words, your true product is not the nutritional, telecommunications, travel, or financial programs your company offers. Your true product is people. And if you learn more about people than your so-called product (I call it "stuff"), then you will be positioned to get incredibly rich in the business of networking.

As you apply this principle, here are a few basic overall human nature principles for you to understand:

1. People are most interested in themselves. This is why you want to be the one asking questions and letting your prospects, members, distributors, etc. do most of the talking.

2. People have a desire to feel important. As a result, recognition is a must.

3. People are skeptical when you say something in your own favor. This is why you want to use third party credibility via three-way calling, conference calls, get-togethers, etc.

4. People have been conditioned with the greed factor. Most people have a tendency to want something for nothing. At the very least, they want to feel that the perceived value of what you're offering is greater than the perceived cost. This is why you want to learn how to "romance" your prospects, meaning build great value in your product, service, or opportunity.

 5. People have a desire for a sense of belonging. Have events on a regular basis so that your people can bond and feel a part of something.

These are just a few of the principles that will fall in line with the "Golden Rule" of "do unto others the way you would like them to do unto you."  However, to dramatically increase your effectiveness with others, you want to apply what I call the "Rainbow Rule." This simply means that you want to "do onto others the way they want to be done unto." Not only will this approach increase your effectiveness with those you come in contact with, but it will also increase your paychecks.

Remember... YOUR PRODUCT IS NOT YOUR PRODUCT!
