Don't Leave Home Without It!
"Don't leave home without it" was a campaign slogan for the American Express Card that you might remember from the 1980s. Don't worry; this isn't a commercial plug for the American Express Card.
In fact, I'm an advocate of leaving home without credit cards as much as possible. But the one thing you really should never leave home without is your ENTHUSIASM!
The reason is simple. Your enthusiasm will impress people more than your knowledge. Anyone who has been to school knows this to be true, especially those of you who went to college.
The professors were very knowledgeable individuals. They had their MBA, J.D. (Law) and PhD degrees. However, most of us still didn't care very much to listen to them lecture for an hour or two.
But what about the occasional guest speakers who came in and talked about a particular subject they were excited about, even though they only went to college for a week? Wow! That was usually the highlight of the semester.
Why did we pay more attention to the college dropout and dread going to class to hear our tenured PhD professors? The difference was enthusiasm.
Enthusiasm is contagious.
People will want to be around you if you are enthusiastic. I once heard that if you catch on fire with enthusiasm, people will come from miles away to watch you burn.
So make the decision to be enthusiastic about your products, your opportunity, your company, your support team, your life, your future, and your destiny.
